Good post Christina! Been using iPad off and on for several months. Still a bit of love/hate relationship:

Love:
1. Browsing, reading, staying current with new touch-centric apps like Flipbook (best app on iPad IMHO).
2. Consuming media (video, podcasts, pictures) all brilliant.
3. All weekend battery life. Unplug and forget about it. Really awesome.

Hate:

1. Lack of full web scripts ala Facebook site and others. Lack of access to Google Docs editing mode. mSafari is great for consuming media, but really sucks for entering data. Because it refreshes so much and there is still not multitasking, I often have a long form response like this refresh on me and lose all the input. This all makes communication a larger challenge on the iPad, as I use that communicate with colleagues almost hourly via these tools.

2. On screen keyboard almost unusable in my experience. Far worse than typing on my iPhone, which is somewhat ironic since I WANT to type far more on the iPad than the tiny iPhone screen. Also find that having to touch back on the screen to move back and forth within a typing document to be cludgy and not nearly as efficient as simply slipping over and using the mouse/trackball.

3. Agreed with others on need for integrate doc management system. Seems like Apple is restricting this to iWork.com users which is great for Apple productivity tools, but does nothing for the rest of us. I already pay $99/year for MobileMe, why can I not use that for accessing content? I assume that is direction they are headed, as they appear to have already opened up streaming media files off iDisk (ala iTunes Media Hub rumors).

I'm not sure if you're into screenplay writing, but because you are a geek, into film, and an iPad owner, I thought you might be interested in the Final Draft for iPad beta. :-) The competition on the iPad so far has been pretty weak...

I have a similar setup with an iMac at home and the iPad for writing on the go.

I've been living with the iPad since last week and I have to say I love it too. It's that device I needed between a desktop and laptop. Now I'll use the laptop for coding on the deck, and the iPad for sitting around.

I love Goodreader, the best $1 I spent on an app ever. It's a shame that Apple never made a Documents space like they did with Photos, Movies, and Music, but perhaps they will in the future. I don't like the idea of having a PDF file duplicated because one app works does one thing well with PDFs and another app does another thing well.

One workflow I have running is grabbing HD movies from my TiVo and converting them to 720p on the iPad. It's awesome, but chapter creation is a pain in the ass.

There's a lot more I need to play around with, but right now I'm looking at it from a developer's point of view and seeing if there's something unique I can do with it. Perhaps...

It's been a month since your last post -- about the iPad. Did the battery die or something?

Cool- I've been meaning to give GoodReader a try.

I'm also recommending an iPad to both my in-laws and my parents. Both need a good travel computer, and the iPad will do everything they need it to, plus they'll be less likely to need my help figuring it out, which is always a plus. :D

Reading things like this make it even more difficult for me not to go out and get one. I want one, but I think I am still going o hold out for Rev. 2!
