Finding a good desktop blogging client is a pain in the ass. I've only just found WindowsLiveWriter, but that won't really do you any good since you're on a mac -- the mac applications I've seen are all claiming to be the best Swiss Army Knife of blogging clients. I'm tempted to write a WordPress specific client once the Leopard SDK becomes available.

ok i'll give MarsEdit a go. I'm so paranoid of losing posts now, I write them all in textedit first. This means I have to do all the html mark-up myself. It's good for learning, but seems to make writing a long post such a chore.

PS. my favourite part of Project Runway is when heidi walks onto the stage and says, "Hallo!" it's a very unique "hello" and my impression of it is nearly spot on. I amuse myself quite often with it.

Actually, ecto uses a plugin tailored for WordPress. It's just that I expected WordPress to implement support for mt-tags sooner in their xmlrpc.
Oh, btw, summary = excerpt.

Adriaan,
Thanks for the information! I am also playing around with MovableType for another project, so it might end up being that MarsEdit is best for WordPress and Ecto might be better for MT. Thanks for the workaround.

ecto will send the tags to WP, but since WP doesn't support mt-tags in the xmlrpc you need to configure ecto a bit more. See http://infinite-sushi.com/support/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=201

I really appreciated reading this objective description of what MarsEdit is doing right and wrong. I was especially interested to learn how important the visual icons for bolding/etc are to you. Great to get this kind of feedback! I'll definitely be thinking about this as I developer MarsEdit further.
