New Domain Name!

This bitch just got a better domain. w00t!

Last year, I thought it might be a good idea to buy a domain name that was you know, my actual name. Although I previously associated such a purchase/use with an utter lack of creativity (and I still think that’s true), I was able to recognize the benefits that having ChristinaWarren.com vs. PlanetChristina.com (which I also have), Filmmania.net (which I’ve had for 8 years but havent had content on in about 5) or any of my other random domains. Although that may seem obvious to every other person on the planet (which is why people always register their own names), it took having my name and picture appear in USA Today once a week last Spring for me to even cognitively process the idea of people Googling my name, you know, looking to find me.

Anyhoo, ChristinaWarren.com was taken — I think I even e-mailed the site registrant and whoever it was wanted more money than I was willing to fork over (and I wasn’t willing to really spend any more than the registration fee — so asking for $500 or whatever didn’t really make me want the domain more, it just made me pissy). However, Christina-Warren.com was available, so I registered that instead. When I finally got around to setting up WordPress as my primary website driver, and decided to focus on Christina-Warren.com as my main domain for my pseudo-professional web space, I chose the tagline, “Because some other bitch took the URL without the hyphen” because it was the first thing that popped into my head when doing the default WordPress install. The few people who I let see my site before I put up my 12–26 post thought it was funny, so I decided to keep it.

Well, 10 days later — this bitch just got a better domain! Thanks to Twitter (oh Twitter, how I love thee — I’m @film_girl, by-the-by) and Shashi Bellamkonda, I found out ChristinaWarren.com was available. Joy. Pure Joy.So now I need another tagline. Here’s hoping I can get inspired.

Out.

Shizzam! congrats on the new site.

i waaas planning on bringing the hyphen back in 2008, just cuz i like to make up words and the hyphen really brings credibility to made up words, buuut since you’re like, i’m totally over the hyphen, i’m too cool for a hyphen domain, i’m not going to bother. so i should really thank you for saving me the time and money that i was going to do spreading the word on my numerous hyphen domains.

ps. just checked and http://www.-.com is still open, so maybe i’ll just grab it incase the hyphen does make a comeback in 2008.
